Intern Host Family Events with Special Guest Ella Reimer!

Amity Interns are an invaluable asset to our Schools. They not only help add an extra teacher and bring more native language skills to the classrooms, but also enhance our students’ cultural knowledge and sensitivity. Hosting an intern will bring the linguistic and cultural learning experience to your whole family, as well as build an international friendship.

The Reimer family hosted Abdou for 8 months in 2011, an intern from Bordeaux France. Check out TFS student Ella’s impressive French conversation with Abdou on the Reimer family’s YouTube channel EllaSpeaksFrench. Thank you for sharing your experiences Reimer family!

Intern Host Families provide a private room, meals, occasional transportation and integration into the family and the St. Louis community. If you are interested in becoming a Host Family, contact amity-task-force@sllis.org.

Upcoming Host Family Events:

On Monday, May 21st from 6 – 8 pm, the SLLIS Intern Task Force facilitates a Meet and Greet Host Family Orientation in order to learn more about the Amity program and how it supports SLLIS. If you are planning to attend, please reply to Brenda Butler at 314.401.6919 by Friday, May 11th. If you’ll need childcare, please tell Brenda when you RSVP, including the number of children that will be attending.

To current host families: even if you have chosen not to host next year, we invite you to attend to provide support or testimony to future host families.

Then, save the date for the Host Family Orientation on August 18th facilitated by Amity Institute.

Amity will provide orientations to:
— Interns about living in US, language immersion, etc.
— Host Families about living with an intern, Q&A, etc.
— SLLIS teachers and staff about Amity, working with
interns/assistant teachers, etc.

Amity plans to provide lunch for everyone.
