SLLIS Interim President Begins November 2

Dear SLLIS Parents and Staff,

On behalf of the board of directors, I am pleased to announce the hiring of St. Louis Language Immersion Schools’ new interim president, Dr. Jack Williams.

Dr. Williams most recently served as interim director at Preclarus Mastery Academy, a fifth through eighth grade independent charter school in St. Louis City.  His experience also includes 13 years as teacher and administrator with the St. Louis Public Schools, three years as assistant principal in the Kirkwood School District and 26 years as a principal and assistant superintendent with Ritenour School District. He has also provided education consulting to the Normandy School District and the Special School District.

Dr. Williams will begin his term as interim president on Monday, November 2 and will guide our organization through the 2015 – 2016 school year.

We are confident that his leadership in both charter and public schools and his commitment to excellence will guide SLLIS through this important transition year.

The Board is committed to finding a visionary leader for the long-term future of the institution. We are in the process of identifying a firm to conduct a national search for our next permanent president. This search will include opportunities for parents to share what qualities they are believe are most important in a leader.

We want to thank everyone who was involved in this process, especially those parents and staff who took time out to be part of the interview panels. Your feedback and inputs have been invaluable.

We are proud of the work of the SLLIS community to date and know that our students and staff will continue to achieve and excel in this innovative educational model school.

Aliah Holman, Chair
SLLIS Board of Directors
