MOSAIC students head to World Chess Hall of Fame

​This February, ​our  MOSAIC Before/Aftercare Program ​partnered with the World Chess Hall of Fame in the Central West End for an urban education art and literacy project and our first ever MOSAIC field trip. 2nd-6th ​g​rade visit​ed​ the Living Like Kings exhibit​. ​

The concept for Living Like Kings began when WCHOF’s team was introduced to an author and educator who founded the nonprofit Hip Hop Chess Federation in San Francisco, CA. ​It​ fuses chess and hip hop to promote peace, knowledge, and self-reliance among young people.

Our students ​wil​l​ follow up with an onsite writing and art project that will be displayed at the World Chess Hall of Fame ​through April 26th.
