Dear Escuela de Español Parents/ Guardians:
The last few days of every school year are such a special time for our students, staff and families in the Spanish School. Celebrations can be witnessed at every level, Kindergarten preparing for first grade, fifth-graders preparing for sixth-grade, the fifth-graders promotion ceremony, and, of course, the Learning Celebration. These culminating events remind us of how much our students have grown as learners and individuals this year, and they provide us with an
opportunity to celebrate their success.
This school year has also been successful for the Spanish School as a whole. In December 2013, we became an authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) school and TSS has formally embarked on the journey with the Primary Years Program (PYP). After dedicating the last five years working with our staff, we developed a completed K-5 Program of Inquiry (POI). We will continue working to fully align our curriculum vertically, grade-to-grade. TSS is working to more
effectively communicate and measure our progress in this area to ensure we are providing our students with the best possible education.
Other accomplishment to celebrate! On May 2014, TSS achieved one of the three recognition levels for Schoolwide Positive Behavior Support (SW-PBS) implementation. TSS has earned a Bronze State Recognition.
As educators, we are committed to making a difference in our students’ lives every day. Our commitment with our students is to help them grow into young men and women who are equipped for success. Thank you for trusting us to care and provide for your children. Your trust is truly one of the greatest gifts that you give us as educators.
I hope your summer is filled with plenty of enjoyment, relaxation and quality time with your family. We look forward to hearing from our students about their summer experiences when we welcome them back in August.
Early in August, the SY15 teacher will contact you to set an appointment for the Intake Conference on August 7th
