St. Louis Language Immersion Schools To Add Third Location Near
The Chinese School & The International School to expand in new building
May 22, 2014 – St. Louis, MO – In its annual State of SLLIS address, St. Louis Language Immersion Schools announced its expansion to a third location later this summer. The newest of St. Louis Language Immersion Schools’ current elementary programs, The Chinese School, will move to 3740 Marine, St. Louis 63118 for the 2014-2015 school year. They will not be alone. The International School, the secondary program of St. Louis Language Immersion Schools, will celebrate its inaugural year in the new building with 6th grade students. “We’re very excited to support our growing student community in all of our schools. This new building represents an opportunity to expand the ripple effect of language immersion and International Baccalaureate education with even more St. Louisans,” said Founder & President Rhonda Broussard in her annual address to the school community.
The newly acquired building, a former school, is located in a mostly residential area of St. Louis City. At approximately 64,000 square feet, one-third of the total space will be used in the first year of the lease. St. Louis Language Immersion Schools has negotiated a five-year lease with options to renew.
Opened in 2009, St. Louis Language Immersion Schools operated The Spanish School & The French School in a converted warehouse space in The Grove. In 2012, The French School moved downtown to 1881 Pine, formerly Ethel Hedgemen Lyle Academy, to make way for The Chinese School.
St. Louis Language Immersion Schools continues to develop options for a master campus within the St. Louis City central corridor. In 2010, St. Louis Language Immersion Schools began conducting stakeholder sessions to design their ideal master campus. Those early planning sessions continue to inform the schools’ growth into developmental buildings as well as their pursuit of a single campus for all of their schools. St. Louis Language Immersion Schools anticipates serving 2,100 students in grades K-12 by 2021. The realization of a master campus will enable SLLIS to realize its vision of a truly diverse, multi-cultural community.
