Dear parents and families of third, fourth, and fifth grade girls,
In The French School we are proud to be offering an amazing program to our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade girls: Girls on the Run. Girls on the Run is a positive youth development program for girls that combines life skill lessons with training for a 5k run in a creative, interactive, and fun way. The program instills confidence and equips girls with tools to empower them for a lifetime of healthy living. Last year was our inaugural season, and the program was a huge success. Don’t let your daughter miss out on this exciting opportunity!
Practices for Girls on the Run will be held at school two times per week: on Tuesdays from 3:30 – 5 and on Fridays from 2-3:30. Although there will not be after school transportation available on Tuesdays, all the TFS coaches have agreed to help girls carpool after school on Tuesdays so everyone can participate. Practices start on September 10. The culminating event of the program, the 5K (3.1 mile) race, will be held downtown on November 16.
Registration for the program is online. To register, please go to http://girlsontherunstlouis.org/ and register for our site (SLLIS – The French School). TFS teachers are happy to allow parents to register their daughters on classroom computers if necessary. The program comes with a $100 fee, but scholarships can be requested in the registration process. Don’t wait too long – registration ends Wednesday, September 4 at 5 pm!
Thank you for considering joining TFS’s Girls on the Run team! We guarantee that this will be an extraordinary learning experience for your daughter.
