2012 Night of Celebration

SLLIS Community,

Please save the date for an exciting evening where guests will experience language & cultural immersion as Saint Louis Language Immersion Schools’ (SLLIS) four languages – French, Spanish, Mandarin, & Japanese – are demonstrated through food, music, art and more. The 2012 Night of Celebration is Saturday, June 9th at our Papin location. We are thrilled to honor Novus, Inc. and their ongoing commitment to SLLIS’ growth and success.

If interested, there are many ways to get involved:

Committee Member: We are looking for volunteers to assist with obtaining
event sponsorships and in-kind donations, preparing mailings, and assisting
with other event logistics.

Table Host: As a Table Host, you would lend your name our celebration for
use in event materials. We ask you to purchase a table sponsorship and/or
help sell tickets to friends, colleagues, and family. There’s no set number of
tickets you need to sell; it is our hope that everyone put forth their greatest
effort to make this a successful event. We will provide you with email and
print invitations that can be shared with your network, as well as any other
materials you may need.

Event Volunteer: Volunteers are needed on June 9th for event set-up/clean-
up, registration, greeting, tours, and more. We are also looking for a very
organized individual to serve as Volunteer Captain for the day.

Attendee: The purpose of this event is to raise awareness of and funds for
SLLIS. We hope to have a great turnout from the current SLLIS community
as well as the greater St. Louis community. Individual tickets to the Night
of Celebration are $200. There will be a limited number of discount tickets
available for purchase by SLLIS staff, parents and volunteers. These tickets will
be distributed in late May. If you are interested in being put on the waiting list
for these tickets, please send an email to Rachel that includes your name, best
contact information and if you would like 1 or 2 tickets.

For more information or to get involved, please contact Rachel D’Souza-Siebert at 314-533-0975 or Rachel.dsouza-siebert@sllis.org.

We look forward to a successful Night of Celebration!

Coffee Monday morning, beer Tuesday evening

Coffee monday morning

Families of SLLIS students are invited to attend Coffee with the Currents on Monday, Dec. 12, from 9 to 10 .m.  It’s a great opportunity to share information about your child’s experience at SLLIS with parents who are thinking of enrolling for the 2012-13 school year. (Editorial note: My kindergartener is counting to 110 in Spanish!   Woohoo!)

Enrollment Coordinator Anne Carr will provide coffee, tea, hot chocolate and donuts. She’ll also have enrollment packets available — in case your family has a child who will start kindergarten next year — and she can notarize the gold sheet, make copies of birth certificates and other paperwork, and answer any questions you might have.

No RSVP is needed for Coffee with the Currents. If you would like to contact Anne about enrollment, please e-mail anne@sllis.org.

Beer Tuesday evening

Join the Parents Assembly for Second Tuesday Microbreweries on Dec. 13 at 7 p.m.  This month’s location is Square One Brewery and Distillery in Lafayette Square (1727 Park Ave., St. Louis).  Square One is a unique destination in a number of ways. For example, it has a cask ale system — which means some of its beers are finished in kegs and can be served straight from the cellar — and it was also the first microdistillery restaurant in the state of Missouri.

TFS parent Brad Morrow has arranged a short tour of the brewing facilities, followed by plenty of time to socialize with other SLLIS parents over a glass of beer such as Park Avenue Pale Ale or Maple Stout, or maybe over a cocktail made with Square One’s own spirits. Each person pays for his or her own drinks and food, and all participants must be over 21.

If you have any questions, please contact Brad via e-mail at sllispapromotions@gmail.com.
