Join us at Festival of Nations this weekend!

Rain or shine, this weekend is one of the biggest international celebrations in St. Louis.  Festival of Nations is organized by the International Institute of St. Louis with the original intent of showcasing the cultures of immigrants and refugees in the area.  Come and visit our information table, enjoy crafts and games, and watch the performances.  At least one of our families is performing with African Musical Arts at 4pm Sunday on the Folk Grove Stage and another is supporting the Groupo Atlantico, Colombian folkloric dance performance at 2pm on the Forest Stage. They would love to see their new SLLIS families in the audience.  Wear your founder t-shirts and stop by and say Hola or Salut!

See you there!

Festival of Nations 2008

Many thanks to our amazing Marketing Committee and French and German School Project Group members for staffing our table at Festival of Nations this weekend. We got great feedback from the community about our school model. If you know of an upcoming opportunity to share the word about the SLLIS model, let us know.

Things to look forward to

Hey guys, David here, this past Thursday I attended SLLIS’s Board of Directors meeting. Let me tell you a little about what you can look forward to.

We have just complete the creative design on the new SLLIS website. We are currently contracting it to a web developer who can code it properly for us and then you should see it up and running within a few weeks. While the blog should remain your main source for updates, the Sllis website will provide tons of interesting information such as full board bios and language immersion research. Stay tuned.

The Festival of Nations will be the weekend of the 23rd of August and SLLIS will definitely be there. You can come to learn more about the school, and even meet our Executive Director and members of our Board. The event will take place at Tower Grove Park.

I am sure all of you out there are curious about where the school is going to be located. Our facilities committee looked at several buildings last week and one in particular looked very promising. I won’t disclosed the location just yet, but it is centrally located and in a very safe area (near a corporate campus actually). Keep on the look-out for more updates.
