The monthly business portion of the PA meeting will begin at 6 p.m., followed by the MySLLIS demo.  Child care and snacks will be provided in a nearby classroom by interns.  Parents are asked to bring a $5 donation per child to cover costs. The meeting will end by 7:30 p.m.

Last but not least, all SLLIS parents, staff members, teachers and incoming parents are invited to a special edition of the Second Tuesday Microbreweries series on Feb. 14, 7 p.m., at the Schlafly Bottleworks in Maplewood. In honor of Valentine’s Day, the theme is “I Love SLLIS Day.”  Bring your spouse, your girlfriend/boyfriend, your best friend or just yourself.  (But please remember that participants must be age 21 or over, and everyone will pay for his or her own drinks and food.)  If you would like more information, please e-mail Peter Manion via the PA’s Promotions Task Force at sllisPApromotions@gmail.com.

The fair kicks off with a costume day on Thursday, Feb. 16. Students are encouraged to come to school dressed as a character from a book.  The book fair sale opens for parents after school from 4 to 7 p.m.

Fete du Livre activities include crafts, stories, games, face painting and more.

The book fair will be open during the day on Friday, Feb. 17, in the gym while conferences are held. There will be a reading corner for children while parents shop for books.

While most of the books will need to be ordered, there will be a limited amount of “cash and carry” books.  More than 175 French titles are available to order by cash, check or credit card.

You can also support your child’s classroom and our library by buying books.   Wish lists will be available at the sale to help with your selection.

Come learn about what it’s like to go to school in other countries, play games that other kids play and make crafts inspired by other cultural traditions. The registration form is due this Friday, February 3rd.

Wednesday 2/1: The next PA-SAC Transition meeting will be held from 4 – 5 pm in the Parents’ Lounge. This is the first meeting to discuss our long-term development strategy, how parent-driven fundraising supports SLLIS and how we will have clearer expectations, staff support and stewardship of parent gifts.
Lisa Dorner will coordinate donation-based childcare for this event.

Thursday 2/2: The Center for Hearing and Speech in St. Louis is coming to SLLIS to perform free vision and hearing screenings for TSS students today and Friday (2/3). TFS students will have the screenings on February 9th and 10th.

Join Madame Louise on Thursdays from 5 – 6 for French classes. Please bring a pen or pencil and paper.

Friday 2/3: The Center for Hearing and Speech in St. Louis is coming to SLLIS to perform free vision and hearing screenings for TSS students today. TFS students will have the screenings on February 9th and 10th.

Join our TSS first graders at 5:45 pm for their grand Immersion Celebration. The Immersion Celebration will celebrate our first graders’ achievement of being immersed in the Spanish language for 18 months. The students will receive a diploma to commemorate their achievements thus far and serve as a symbol of their commitment to continue learning.

Lisa is looking for two people to volunteer to do the set up and oversee the buffet during the first lunch shift on February 8th since she will be on a field trip in the morning. This would be a time commitment from 10:30-12:00. Please email her at sllispateacherappreciation@gmail.com if you can help with this job, and she will give you all the information you need.

Lisa is also looking for 1-2 people to take over the coordination of this task force. Duties for this position include organizing the monthly lunches, Teacher Appreciation Week events, overseeing Back to School and Holiday gifts for staff and a few other tasks. Much of this work can be done from home by email or while running your own errands. Lisa will still be active in the task force, but would like to hand over coordinating duties to someone else. Lost and Found will be cleaned out on February 1st. Unclaimed uniform pieces will be washed and put out for resale on conference days. The rest of the unclaimed objects will be donated to Goodwill.
